Dr Matthew P. Stewart, PhD, MIET, MBCS, AMIMechE, FRSA, is an AI/ML leader and researcher with over seven years of experience translating cutting-edge research into scalable, real-world systems. He formerly served as Chief Technology Officer at Harbor AI, where he led the design and deployment of AI-driven underwriting and risk analytics platforms.
His work spans machine learning sensors, benchmarking frameworks for robotics and reinforcement learning, interpretable and sustainable AI, neuromorphic/on-device intelligence (TinyML), and data–model co-design. Research from this portfolio has appeared in outlets including Nature Machine Intelligence, ICRA, and Communications of the ACM, and informs his current focus on trustworthy, efficient LLM systems in healthcare.
Matthew’s industry contributions include executive leadership (CTO, Harbor AI), applied AI consulting across fintech, real estate, and e-commerce, and community service on advisory councils (e.g., AI/tech forums). Professional memberships and designations include MIET (Institution of Engineering & Technology), MBCS (BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT), AMIMechE (Institution of Mechanical Engineers), and FRSA (Royal Society of Arts). Outside of work, he’s an endurance athlete—an Ironman finisher, ultramarathoner, and marathoner—bringing the same resilience and long-term vision to building intelligent systems.
